Rooted in the Gospel, week 5 – Lee Cadden – May 6, 2018

God is Good, so We Don’t Have to Look Elsewhere

Good, as God defines it, is not the same as the world defines it. (Luke 18:19 – “No one is good, except God alone.”)

Goodness is part of his nature, an intrinsic part of who he is. Yet, evil, pain and brokenness remain.

God is good, and He is All powerful.

The Lie:  God isn’t good, I can’t trust him, I have to figure this out on my own.

Lies about God’s goodness lead to workaholism, performance oriented worth, the best and latest fix, a bigger salary for fulfillment, stress, anxiety, worry, a need to control everything.

Scripture paints a clear picture on the goodness of God (1 John 1:5, Psalm 119:68, Psalm 100:5)

The Promise: All things work Together for God for Those Who Love God

Romans 8:28

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

IF all things work together for good for God’s people, then it is His grace that carries us through.

Fear says, “What if ______ happens?” Faith turns our “What ifs” into “Even Ifs”

Faith says, “Even if ______ happens, the Lord is still good.

Psalm 27:13
