Earlier this year we shared that there were some staff role shifts taking place to meet the needs of those among our church and community.  The next step of those shifts becomes a reality this Sunday, December 4.  I am thrilled to share that Marcus Popenfoose will assume the Director of Youth Ministry at Cornerstone Church this Sunday.

marcusMarcus will be an incredible asset to our Cornerstone Church staff and will lead CornerstoneYouth deeper into the presence of God among our Youth and their families.  Marcus served Cornerstone Church as a youth intern for two years when he was a student at Auburn University.  During the internship, Marcus experienced a call on his life which lead him to pursue God into youth ministry.  Marcus took a deeper leadership role among CornerstoneYouth upon his graduation from Auburn University and lead the team development of our Confirmation curriculum, enhanced his teaching skills and learned to apply his Human Development & Family Studies degree into real life situations. Upon graduation, Marcus developed a youth ministry at Journey Church in his hometown of Huntley, IL, just outside of Chicago.

Marcus and his wife, Victoria, were student athletes with the Track & Field team at Auburn University.  Marcus and Victoria both served with CornerstoneYouth until their marriage here at Cornerstone, at which time they moved to Chicago for Victoria’s graduate school in Speech Therapy.  Victoria is completing her grad school practicums in our local community and in Columbus, GA over the next few months.

Marcus and Victoria bring a youthful and passionate heart to lead people to know and serve Jesus in our community, here at Cornerstone Church, and among CornerstoneYouth. Introduce yourself on Sunday and welcome Marcus and Victoria Popenfoose back to Auburn and Cornerstone Church!
