Here’s what’s happening this month at Cornerstone Kids. You will find information about what the kids are learning, preview videos, take home materials and more.

fullsizerender-2As we move into fall, we are very excited about the many wonderful things the Lord is doing in our ministry. A little more than a week ago we baptized five of our children and three of our youth at Cornerstone’s Baptism Celebration. We are thankful for God’s saving grace and goodness in their lives, for all who have loved and poured into them, and for the privilege of being a part of the faith story God is writing in their lives. Go here to see photos from Baptism Celebration. View our Baptism video here.

sibleyfamily-3This summer Lacy Sibley joined our ministry staff as our Coordinator to Children with Special Needs. Lacy has a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Early Childhood Special Education and has several years of teaching experience in elementary special education. Lacy and her family have been attending Cornerstone since March of 2013. Lacy is married to T.J. and has two sons, two-year old, Will and 2-month old, James. In her role with us, Lacy will be helping to recruit and train special needs buddy volunteers for our children in Pebble Path and Rock City. She will also be ministering to these sweet children and working with their families to ensure they are loved, well-served and that they have the opportunity to grow in their faith in their time with us. We are so blessed and grateful to have Lacy on our ministry team.

fullsizerender-1We also welcomed two interns recently. We are overjoyed to have Zoe Arnold back for her second year of ministry in Cornerstone Kids! Allie Fain is a new intern this fall. Zoe and Allie are two of 11 interns serving through Cornerstone College’s internship program. They are also both studying Human Development and Family Studies at Auburn. We are blessed to have both of them with us this year and look forward to the many ways they will inspire and encourage the faith of our children and volunteers.

Zoe and Allie will be heading up a new program this fall. Magnificent Mondays will serve our 4th and 5th graders. It will take place once a month beginning September 12 from 6:00-7:30 pm in Rock City. We hope you will plan to have your child join us for an evening of food, fun, faith and friendship. We look forward to spending this special time with these awesome kids! Friends are welcome! Go here for more information about Magnificent Mondays and to register.

There is much more to come this fall. Here’s what your children will be learning about in Cornerstone Kids this month.

Our preschoolers will “Dive In” this month as they learn to trust God. Bible stories this month include Noah, Jonah, and Naaman who trusted God in uncertain circumstances, and our little ones will see that they can trust in Him, too. As we share these well-known water stories we will have fun with lots of water-themed crafts and activities. Each week we will have an underwater activity table where kids can decorate their own ocean scene and wear fish masks. Look for an awesome take-home in week 3 for your kids to enjoy to keep the water fun going at home. It will also contain great information for parents, too. Take a moment to ask your little one, “Who can you trust?” Their answer should be, “I can trust God!” Watch this video to learn more about what we’re teaching in Pebble Path this month.

16sep_standard_trustWe are “Under the Big Top” in Rock City this month as we talk about what Trust looks like. In a circus, a tight rope walker or acrobat has to put all of their trust in the equipment and people that they’re working with. We’re defining Trust as “putting your confidence in someone you can depend on”, and during September, kids will look at the life of Joseph as he put his full trust in God through the good times and the bad. Our memory verse for the month helps kids remember this important promise. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding” (NIrV). We hope you will take a moment to watch this video so you will learn more about the life of Joseph and how you can grow to trust God no matter what.
