For the past few summers, we have been taking our 4th and 5th graders out into the community to serve. This summer we will host our Summer Serve Days once again at Cornerstone during the month of June. This is a great opportunity for kids to get to know each other and to learn about needs in our community.
I have enjoyed getting to know our older elementary students through Summer Serve Days each year and am always so touched by their heart for others. They are always very excited to live out their faith in tangible ways! We will begin each serve day at Cornerstone with a devotion and prayer and then will head out to serve. We will end the morning with lunch out together. Here is the schedule:
June 1 – Serve at East Alabama Food Bank
We will serve at the Food Bank and will have lunch at Moe’s in downtown Auburn.
June 8 – Serve at Cornerstone’s Foundations Preschool & WinShape
We will serve at Cornerstone in the Foundation’s Preschool by crafting, reading and playing with school children. We are also planning to make goodie bags for WinShape Camps for Communities that takes place later in the month. Lunch this day will be at CiCi’s.
June 15 – Serve at Exodus Ranch
We will serve at Exodus Ranch, a Christian home in Opelika that cares for children in need. We will make lunches and take them to the children at Exodus Ranch. While there we will work on the ranch and will play with the children in care there. We will also eat lunch at Exodus Ranch with the kids. Plan to pack a lunch this day.
There is no cost for the serve days but each child will need to bring money for lunch at Moe’s and at Cici’s. Parents will drop off and pick up at Cornerstone. Let us know you’re coming by registering at the link below.
Bring your friends and come join us in June for Summer Serve Days! We will have a blast and will make a difference in the community at the same time!
