Here’s what’s happening this month at Cornerstone Kids. You will find information about what the kids are learning, preview videos, take home materials and more.

We kicked off a new month on Sunday with a wonderful celebration of new life. More than 20 adults, youth and children were baptized at our Baptism Celebration on Sunday evening. It was a celebration indeed as we worshipped together, Pastor Rusty taught about faith and Baptism, many were baptized, and we ate hamburgers and hotdogs together as a church family. We also hosted many visitors – family members and friends who came to witness and to celebrate with us. We are so proud of our Cornerstone Kids –  Randall Calloway, Dakota Duke, Maggie Grace Gulsby, Jackson Lovvorn, Aubree McGinnis, Justice Waugh and Torie Williams who publicly testified through Baptism their new life in Christ and can now claim for themselves that they to belong to the family of God.

We want to celebrate and honor their parents and family members, too, who love them and are intentional about nurturing them in their faith. We also want to express our gratitude to the many dedicated volunteers whose passion for Christ, love for our children and wonderful example make an eternal difference in their lives. When families and the church partner together to pour into our children, God will do amazing and beautiful things in their lives. This is definitely worth celebrating!

God designed us to enjoy each other’s company, and we are “Better Together.” This month we will hear from God’s word about David and Jonathan. They shared a wonderful friendship together, and we can learn a lot from their story. We’ll be teaching our little ones that friends do fun things together. They eat together and play together. They take care of one another and help one another. Friends even worship God and pray together. We are grateful for God’s gift of friendship, and we look forward to growing in friendship with our little ones this month. Don’t forget to use your May placemat. We have heard great things from parents who are using them at meal times, when they are crafting or playing with Play Doh. We hope the placemat will inspire you to take advantage of times like these to have sweet conversations about faith with your little ones. This is a great way for you to point them to Jesus! And, take a minute to watch our May Preview Video below to learn more about the importance of friendship.

16May_standard_Theme“Supersize Me” is our theme for May in Rock City, and it’s a wonderful way to set the stage for all that our elementary children will be learning this month. Contentment is our virtue, or life app, for May. Our curriculum defines contentment as deciding to be happy with what you’ve got. This is not easy! Most of us spend a lot of time thinking about what we don’t have and what we want, and this can make us very discontent. We want our children to learn that being content is a heart issue. It’s a choice. We want to help them understand how to be happy because of what God has given them. We will be teaching our kids to count their blessings, to look for the many things they can be thankful for each day and to truly see their lives as a gift from God. God’s word has a lot to say about contentment. We’ll be exploring these Bible teachings all month long. Our hope is that, like the Apostle Paul, our kids can declare, “I have learned the secret of being content no matter what happens. I am content whether I am well fed or hungry. I am content whether I have more than enough or not enough.” Philippians 4:12. Please take a few minutes to watch the Preview Video below to learn more about contentment.
