Have you ever had a child see you from across the room and run as fast as they could just to give you a hug? What about a child tugging on your shirt as you walk by just to give you a picture they drew for you?
Well, I get the privilege to witness this everyday at Foundations Preschool at Cornerstone Church! This is my second year as the director at Foundations and each day is a wonderful adventure.
At Foundations we believe every child has the potential to be all God wants them to be. Our mission is to assist our families in laying the foundation to knowing and serving Jesus. We have students from 6 weeks old to 5 years old whom attend two to five days a week. We engage in daily activities that teach age appropriate academics, social, cognitive and biblical skills.
We provide weekly music classes and my personal favorite “Praise and Worship”. During Praise and Worship we have a short video or puppet show to reflect on our weekly Bible theme. We end with high-energy praise music and lots of dancing! I do mean lots of dancing! It’s an amazing sight to see these sweet little ones love Jesus so much.
We have an amazing community who loves to support and share with us. We’ve enjoyed the Auburn Fire Department, Auburn University Cheerleaders & Aubie, & Variations Dance Studio just to name a few. Building blocks, balls, play dough, counting, writing, books and puzzles are few of our favorite things to play but the playground is by far their favorite! Mine too! The three and four year old classes talked me into going head first down the tunnel slide a few weeks ago!!! Half way down when I felt the pain streaking down my body I realized that this was probably not the smartest thing to do, but it was so worth it when all the children got very excited when I made it down. I even heard a ….We love you Mrs. Amy! I speak for the entire staff when I say we love them too. We are so privileged to teach these precious children. In all we do at Foundations, we remember this verse and know that we are helping lay their foundation: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
