One of my favorite things about Christmas is seeing the joy on the faces of my children when they open up their gifts on Christmas morning – watching as they shake each box, wondering what it could be. Then they tear off the wrapping paper, and their eyes light up with delight as they discover the treasure inside.
Christmas morning is memorable and almost magical for many of us. Operation Christmas Child gives us the opportunity to share this same kind of Christmas joy with children all over the world, as seen in the following video.
Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan’s Purse, partners with churches worldwide to reach boys and girls with the Gospel – by way of shoeboxes. Our shoebox campaign at Cornerstone is in full swing, and we have collected close to 40 filled shoeboxes so far. We’ve been promoting Operation Christmas Child all month long in Cornerstone Kids. Our weekday Foundation’s preschool program is also helping to collect shoebox supplies. We’ve recently heard from some of our community groups who are also putting shoeboxes together. We even had 100 empty shoeboxes donated to us for our church family to take home and fill.
We invite you to join with us in changing children’s lives all over the world in Jesus’ name by filling a shoebox. Go here for packing instructions, gift ideas, and everything you need to know about Operation Christmas Child. You can even track your shoebox and discover the destination of your gift. Return your filled box this coming Sunday, November 15, to the table in the lobby and help us reach our goal of 150 shoeboxes and 150 children all over the world filled with Christmas joy and touched with the love of Jesus.
