Here’s what’s happening this month at Cornerstone Kids. You will find information about what the kids are learning, preview videos, take home materials and more.
We are ringing in the Christmas season a little early this year with Operation Christmas Child. We officially launched our annual shoebox campaign this past Sunday at Trunk or Treat. Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan’s Purse, partners with churches worldwide to reach boys and girls with the Gospel – by way of shoeboxes. We invite you to join with us in changing children’s lives all over the world in Jesus’ Name by filling a shoebox. We will be collecting shoeboxes until November 15. Our goal is to collect 150 shoeboxes this year. Go here for all of the details. You will also find Operation Christmas Child brochures available at the Welcome Desk and at the check-in stations in Rock City and Pebble Path. And speaking of Trunk or Treat, we’ve got some great photos from Sunday’s Trunk or Treat. Check them out here.
Preschoolers love puzzles which is why we are so excited about all the fun we will be having with puzzles this month. Our little ones will learn the exciting story of Joseph and how God has a plan for us. As they discover the different pieces to Joseph’s story, they are going to construct a puzzle to see how each piece of his story fits together according to God’s plan for his life. Then, we’ll teach them that God has a plan for them, too. Our memory verse is Psalm 33:1, “The plans of the Lord stand firm forever.” We hope you will ask your child this month, “Who has a plan for you?” They should be able to tell you with great confidence that, “God has a plan for me.”
We’ve got so much in store for our kids in November! There are five Sundays this month that will be filled with great Bible teaching, worship, small group activities, Operation Christmas Child, Moon Pies and more! Yes, that’s right, Moon Pies! The stage in Rock City will be set for an outer space adventure where we will be calling for “all hands on deck” as we help our children grow in Service. We describe service as “lending a hand to help someone else.” Just as Jesus came to save and to serve, He invites us to join Him in the amazing things He is doing in the world. This month, we want to help our children learn to take the focus off themselves and to begin to understand that they really do have an important role in this world to give, to help, and to serve others. Our prayer is that our elementary children will learn to, “Let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
