MergeCamp_weblargeWhile paddling in a canoe with one our campers last week, I was asked the question, “Mrs. Jill, what does it really mean to give your life to Christ?” I always love that question, especially from an 11 year old! This was just one of many amazing conversations that marked our time at Merge Camp this year.

Taking 4th and 5th graders to camp is an annual event in our Children’s Ministry at Cornerstone, and it is always a highlight of the summer. This year was no exception. Amidst the rustic accommodations and cafeteria-style camp meals; between crazy relay races, sponge (soaking wet) dodge ball, glow-in-the-dark games and shaving cream wars; between late-night giggling girl dance parties and canoe rides with preteen boys; it was obvious that God was doing something very special in the lives of our campers and in all of us!

19858454242_5a626b3c57_mThis year’s camp theme was “No Limits.” Each day we gathered with close to 250 campers from nine different churches for worship, incredible Bible teaching, and to pray. Our campers learned that our great God has no limits, and with His power, help, and guidance, they can live lives in Him with no limits. With no limits they can experience freedom. They are free to love, to forgive, to be forgiven, and to have a relationship with God.

Our campers learned that with no limits God can use each one of them. He can use them to pray for others, to help those in need, to change people’s lives with their story and to spread joy and love. We also celebrated as three of our campers gave their lives to Christ and several others wanted to know more about this important decision.

Ephesians 3 was referenced often during our camp quiet times, teaching time and small group studies. Several verses from this chapter have now become my prayer for our awesome group of campers. I invite you to join me in praying that God will continue the good work He began at Merge Camp in all of their lives.

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:16-21.
