Here’s what’s happening this month at Cornerstone Kids. You will find information about what the kids are learning, preview videos, take home materials and more.

The New Year is almost here, and we are excited and ready for all that our kids will be learning as we step into 2015! We’ve got 52 weeks worth of incredible Bible teaching and activities that will help your children grow deeper in their faith and more in love with our Heavenly Father. It starts this Sunday as our little ones in Pebble Path kick off January with the theme, “Help! I Need Somebody!” In Rock City we will be teaching our elementary children important faith skills as they learn about “Commitment”.

PrintThis month our preschool friends will discover through important Bible lessons that the blind man needed Jesus to see. The lame man needed Jesus to walk. The deaf man needed Jesus to hear. And the ten lepers needed Jesus to be healed. These men needed Jesus to do big things, and He did! Our children will learn that we all need Jesus, and He is there for us each and every day to love us and to help us. They will be learning the verse from Psalm 119:57, “You are everything I need.” You can practice saying it with them at home. What a great verse for all ages!

RC January ImageSundays in January will be a great time of faith building for our elementary kids as they learn the importance of practicing their faith. By focusing on the virtue or life app of “Commitment” our children will grow in their understanding that it takes practice to know God more and to mature in their relationship with Him. We will encourage our kids to make a plan and to stick to the following spiritual disciplines or “faith skills” – HEAR, TALK, PRAY, LIVE. Each week this month we’ll learn to:

  • Practice hearing what God says.
  • Practice praying to God.
  • Practice talking about God.
  • Practice living for God.

What a great way to start the New Year! We hope you will make the commitment to be at Cornerstone on Sunday mornings in 2015. We have a special place in our hearts for your family and we want to cheer you and your kids on as you seek to grow closer to God and to one another.

Reminders:

  • EQUIP: WOMEN: Thursdays, January 15, 22, & 29, 6:15-7:15 pm at Hamilton Rd. We all face storms in our lives – both big and small. However, God has a plan for how to walk through those storms and come out better and stronger on the other side. Join us for a time of worship, Biblical teaching, and discussion while connecting with other women. Go to cornerstonebuzz.org to register.

  • SPRING CLEANING TIME AT CORNERSTONE: Saturday, January 24: 8 am-12 noon. Come spruce up the inside of the Hamilton Road building doing everything from kitchen cleaning to window washing. There is no childcare, however families are welcome. There will be tasks even the little ones can do!

  • INFANT BAPTISM Sunday is  January 25. To have your infant (through 18 months old) baptized during morning worship, contact Lynn Blount at lynn@cornerstonebuzz.org.

  • MWANGAZA CHILDREN’S CHOIR: Sunday, January 25: 6-7 pm at Hamilton Rd. site. Mwangaza Children’s Choir, made up of children ages 8-13 from across the nation of Uganda, will be sharing their gift of music with Cornerstone.
