I want to share with you about an upcoming sermon series that will be coupled with a great opportunity for our church. The series is called the “Advent Conspiracy”. It will begin on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, and run up until the Sunday before Christmas.

The name of the series is a bit different. The basic idea is that we are conspiring together to take Christmas back from the culture. Culture makes Christmas about everything BUT Jesus. We want to undermine that idea by making Jesus the very center of all the things we do to celebrate this “most wonderful” time of the year.

The sermons during this 4-part series will go like this:

Worship Fully – November 30
It starts with Jesus. It ends with Jesus. It’s a season where we are called to put down our burdens and lift a song up to our God. It’s a season where love wins, peace reigns, and a king is celebrated with each breath.
Spend Less – December 7
Spending Less isn’t a call to stop giving gifts; it’s a call to stop spending money on gifts we won’t remember in less than a year. America spends around $600 billion dollars during the Christmas season, and much of that is joyless and goes right onto a credit card. By spending wisely on gifts, we free ourselves from the anxiety associated with debt so we can take in the season with a full heart.
Give More – December 14
I know what you’re thinking. “Wait, didn’t they just say I should spend less?” The most powerful, memorable gift you can give to someone else is yourself. And nobody modeled this more than Jesus. So what does this look like for you? When it comes to spending time with those you love, it’s all about quality, not quantity.
Love All – December 21
It all boils down to love. Love from a savior. Love to a neighbor in need. By spending just a little less on gifts we free up our resources to love as Jesus loves by giving to those who really need help. It’s not that there’s something wrong with the shopping mall—it’s that the better story is about loving all.

We will also have two very important ways to give generously during this season. The first is what we are calling “Conspire: Lee County”. I would like to see all of us find ways to give more of ourselves locally this year. On our church website we will have different ways/ideas you can use to bless someone in this community. The second opportunity is what we are calling “Conspire: Buloba”. I would also like to see us fund the construction of a medical clinic in Buloba. Click here for more information about the clinic. We would like to raise a minimum of $25,000 to get this clinic up and running. This has been a dream for some time and God has now opened a door to make it happen! We are inviting everyone to make some contribution toward this goal. On Sunday, December 14, we would like for everyone to bring their gift for the clinic to the church. If you know you will not be here on the 14th you are invited to either give online, bring it by the church, or give during the offering time on a Sunday morning (please designate your gift for the “medical clinic”).

I am looking so forward to Christmas this year! It’s mainly because of you and me conspiring together as the church to shine the light of Jesus Christ very brightly in this dark world! We are truly blessed to be a blessing. Thank you for all you do to serve Him through our church!

Merry Christmas! (a little early)
