It’s officially October and already showing signs of fall here on the plains! It’s also time for pumpkins, cooler weather, silly costumes, and great fun and learning with Cornerstone Kids!
We’re gearing up for Trunk or Treat at the end of this month, a great family event that will be held at our Hamilton Road site this year (see more information below), but in the meantime, our kids are exploring the beautiful gifts that God has given them and celebrating the unique people that they are.
In October, our little ones in Pebble Path will take a look at David in the Old Testament, an unlikely choice to be king of Israel, but someone who God chose for a specific purpose and did amazing things with, just like he does with each of us. Through stories of David, we’ll celebrate the truth that “God Helps Us Do Big Things!”
Our bigger kids in Rock City will get the chance to see themselves as blank pages that God is turning into beautiful masterpieces, created in God’s image, and filled with gifts that allow them to creatively share His love with the world. If you walk into Rock City this month, you might get splattered with some paint or handed some Play Doh, but our kids will learn by studying the creation story, people in the Bible like Miriam and David, and Jesus’s words in the Sermon on the Mount that there’s a lot more to creativity than art and music.
Trunk Or Treat is Sunday, October 26 at 4-6 pm, at the Hamilton Road site. Decorate yourself, your kids, and/or your trunk, and come enjoy family fun, free food, and fellowship. This year we will also be collecting items for The BigHouse in Opelika. Go to cornerstonebuzz.org for more information and to register your vehicle.
The next Infant Baptism Sunday is November 16 at both Hamilton Road and Lee-Scott sites. To have your infant (through 18 months old) baptized during morning worship, contact Lynn Blount at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Operation Christmas Child: Cornerstone Kids are collecting shoeboxes November 2-16! These gifts bring a message of hope and love as they are distributed to children all over the world. Brochures with more information will be available in Cornerstone Kids and Welcome Desks at both Hamilton Road and Lee-Scott sites beginning October 12. Consider packing shoeboxes with your small group, neighbors, family or friends! For more information, email Jill Harris at email@example.com.
