Lynn Blount – Administrative Assistant

    (a.k.a. “Queenie”)
  • Birthplace: Montgomery, Al
  • Family Life: Buddy and I met on a blind date and have been married for almost 37 years. We have two sons, Josh & Jake, who call Birmingham their home. We also have two four-legged friends…Shula & Deacon, who think they own our house.
  • First job: My first job was at JCPenney’s in Montgomery. I started out in the gift wrap department, but they “promoted” me to the Men’s Department. To this day, I cannot pass a shirt display without straightening the shirts!
  • How did you first come to Cornerstone and why did you stay? In January 2005, we found ourselves passing the new property every Sunday on our way home from another church, and we felt drawn to Cornerstone. The warm and friendly greeting we received as we walked through the doors made us feel welcomed, and we knew we had found our church home.
  • When did you join the Cornerstone staff team? I joined the staff team in 2006.
  • Role: To keep all staff in line!  Also, I have a following of preschool students who always stop by my desk after school for hugs and lollipops.
  • Favorite Book: Dancing with Broken Bones by David Swartz. This book impacted me to understand that nothing takes God by surprise, and in the midst of the broken moments, he can make beauty from ashes and set our feet to dancing.
  • Favorite Movie: I love “Gone with the Wind”. And I like movies that make me laugh until I cry… which means that “Madea” must be in the mix!
  • Favorite Food: Pizza and BBQ. I want to go on a road trip with Guy Fieri. And because we know that will never happen, I want to travel throughout the good ole south to try out different BBQ pits and decide which is the best BBQ in the South!
  • What do you do in your free time? My favorite past time is going to the beach, spending time with my family, and cheering “Roll Tide!” with Buddy at football games.
