Here’s what’s happening this month at Cornerstone Kids. You will find information about what the kids are learning, preview videos, take home materials and more.
Be our Guest – Let Us Put You First!
May I take your order? This month we are serving up some great stuff for our elementary kids in Rock City’s “Humility Café.” Care to try our “humble pie,” the “submissive salad” or maybe you would like our very popular dish, the “your turn yams?” We recently discontinued the “me-first meatloaf.” It was giving our customers a bad case of “it’s all about me.”
All month long our elementary children will be learning to put others first. This is not an easy principle in a world that’s all about putting ourselves first. As we will study the life of Jesus from the book of John, we’ll see countless examples of Jesus putting others first. Jesus had every right to be full of Himself. He was God, after all. But, when Jesus stepped onto this earth, He put everyone around Him first. His entire life and death centered on humility.
The memory verse we’ll be learning is, “Don’t do anything only to get ahead. Don’t do it because you are proud. Instead, be free of pride. Think of others as better than yourselves.” Philippians 2:3 (NIrV). When we put others first, sometimes we’ll have to make sacrifices. We might sacrifice our pride. We might sacrifice our wants. But nothing we sacrifice will compare with the great sacrifice Jesus made for us. As we approach Easter this month, our hope is that not only will our children learn about humility, but that they will learn to live out humility so that they will be a blessing to those around them, and that others will see Jesus in them.

We’ve got a special month planned for our little ones in Pebble Path, too. We will be looking at God’s Word to learn some sweet stories of friendship.
We’ll learn about Jesus’ good friends Mary and Martha. We’ll hear the story of the Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. We’ll celebrate the truly amazing Easter story. We will finish our look at friendship with the promise that Jesus is building a place for us where we can be with Him forever. Not only is Jesus our Savior and our Lord, He also wants to be our friend, forever! That’s what I call good news!

- This summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to register for Camp Cornerstone. Your kids will not want to miss it this year! Check out Weird Animals here.
- There are still a few spots left for Merge Camp, too. We would love for your 4th or 5th grader to join us in July for this faith-building, fun camp experience.
What a joy and an honor it is for us to be part of your kids’ lives and to watch them grow in their faith! From all of us in Cornerstone Kids, we wish you and your family a very blessed Easter!
