Next steps. With so many things in life we ask this question often, “what is my next step?”. Whether it’s registering ourselves for something, moving up in our career, applying for college, or furthering a dating relationship, we find ourselves faced with determining what the next step is that we should take to accomplish our goal.
“Next steps” is a phrase we use a lot around our church. The idea is that we all have another step to take in our journey of faith. No matter how long we’ve been in church or how far along we are in our Christian walk, there is always another step we can take in becoming more like Jesus. I think about what Peter said in the New Testament when he wrote, “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”
This Sunday at church you will have an opportunity to take another step in your faith journey. You can come check out the various small groups we have going. One of the primary ways to get connected to our church body is by joining in with a group of people who care about each other, learn together and serve together. We all need others in our life for encouragement, support, accountability, and challenge.
Also, while worship and small groups are important, we need to be involved at another level in the life of the church. That would be serving. Jesus said, “I did not come to be served but to serve”. I am so challenged by that statement! If Jesus found serving others important while on this earth, there is no doubt it should be a priority for all of us. We have many ways and opportunities for you to serve others at our church.
So, what’s your next step?? If you’re still looking for a way to get connected here at Cornerstone, check out the Next Steps Event at church this Sunday morning.
