Now that Christmas is behind me and most of the holiday frenzy has passed, I have already begun looking ahead to the New Year. First big decision, “do I even want to make any resolutions?” Some years the answer to that question has been “no”; but not in 2014.

Now I am sure that my resolution list is much shorter than the one Angie, my wife, would write for me, but at the very top I have decided to “Get Smaller in 2014”. I would love for this resolution to mean losing 10-15 lbs., and my buddies on the Set-Up Team at Cornerstone’s Lee-Scott will certainly be chiming in after reading this. But I want to get smaller in a much different way.

It first struck me at our Christmas Eve service when Beth Cofield was reading to our kids, and she talked about how “God made himself small” so that He could come be with us, love us, and serve us. Over the past two years, since moving over to the Lee-Scott site, I have discovered my “Christ-Like” heart for serving others, and in return I have received so much love.

In 2014 I want more. I want to serve more, love more, and learn to be more like Christ. Therefore I am going to make myself smaller and get myself ready to receive all the blessings that come from serving and loving all those whom God places in my path.

So whether you attend at Hamilton Road, the Bred Pub, or Lee-Scott, I want to invite you to join others in service. Go to Serve to see where you can take your next step in serving at Cornerstone. “Service” is the well where we can draw living waters for one another.

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
