Also known as Poverty Awareness week, beginning October 11 Lisa Pierce, as well as other community leaders and students, will be living in one of three shacks around the Auburn area. The purpose is to raise awareness and much needed funds to address substandard housing in surrounding counties and much of Alabama.

Lisa is the Director of Alabama Rural Ministries, also known as ARM. ARM’s mission is “Extending the Love of Christ Through Home Repair and Children’s Ministry”. They began their ministry over a decade ago and have impacted the lives of many adults and families through home repair efforts and children through day camps.

In an effort to raise $50,000, Lisa and the other leaders will be camping out in three shacks around Auburn from October 11-19. The main shack will be located in front of the Auburn Wesley Foundation on Gay Street. You can drop by any of the shacks to donate to the cause or go online to the ARM website.
