Here’s what’s happening this month at Cornerstone Kids. You will find information about what the kids are learning, preview videos, take home materials and more.
“Are we there yet??” If you haven’t said it yourself, I bet you’ve heard this phrase more than once as a parent. No matter what age we are, we all have trouble with waiting and being patient. But thankfully we worship and serve a God who is patient. God is patient with us even when we don’t deserve it.
This month our kids in Rock City will be learning about patience, waiting until later for what you want now. Our chilly theme of Snowflakes in May will remind kids to “play it cool” when they don’t think they can wait. Kids will have a blast “chilling out” with several Winter-related games and activities. Having patience is a way that we can all reflect God’s character.
Students will be focusing on this memory verse: “Wait for the Lord. Be strong and take heart. Wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14, NIV as they hear true stories from the Bible of individuals who practiced patience and others who did not. Those who were able to “play it cool” at critical moments in their lives had the chance to see that God had something better waiting for them. They trusted God and their faith was strengthened through the process.
As our kids are learning the value of delayed gratification, they will also discover the importance of our attitude while we wait. A patient person can wait with joy even when the situation might be a stressful one. When we are patient, we are trusting in God’s timing.
Over in Pebble Path, children will be learning about helping others. While playing dress up and learning about community helpers, they will realize that these helpers such as firemen, policemen, and teachers use their helping hands every day. The memory verse: “Be kind and loving to each other.” Ephesians 4:32, (NCV) gives preschoolers a reminder of how to help others. And through a variety of crafts, games and Bible stories, the little ones in Pebble Path will discover that God made our helping hands to help others anytime, anywhere!
For more information, you can check out the Cornerstone Parent Page to access the Parent Cue app, past Take Home pages, and videos on what your child is learning this month with Cornerstone Kids. We are honored to have the opportunity to partner with parents as we all work together to grow the faith of all kids who are a part of Cornerstone! Lastly, don’t forget to sign your children up for Camp Cornerstone that takes place June 5-8. They won’t want to miss this epic adventure!
