We hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas this year celebrating Jesus’ birthday.  Isn’t it good to be reminded that Christmas is not your own birthday.  This being my first Christmas at Cornerstone, I LOVE the Food Stock 2013 experience and the way that our church responds to the greatest needs in our area.  20 tons of food is an awesome goal. The Youth have already contributed .8 tons to the effort as of December 9 and hope that the remaining 19.2 comes in graciously!  We are excited about the Martha’s Trouble concert on December 16 at the Opelika Cultural Center of East Alabama to aid in the Food Stock efforts as well.

There are some exciting things happening for our 6th-12th graders this upcoming Spring and Summer!  We kick off again in January with a bonfire on January 6 and a parent/youth refocus on Sunday night, January 13.  This past Fall, our small groups have been challenging our students to face the battles and struggles in life with confidence and faith, and we will focus this Spring on what it means to Raise Our White Flag, Surrender to Jesus. The Super Bowl Party is on February 3, and nobody wants to miss out on that fun!  February 10 begins our Confirmation Classes for 7th graders and any other youth interested in exploring their faith. You can go ahead and register here for Confirmation.

I know it has finally gotten cold around Auburn, but this Summer is heating up quickly.  After Camp Cornerstone in early June, five of our Senior girls and four adults will be heading to Uganda.  July 8-12, current 8-11th graders are heading to Panama City Beach for BigStuf.  July 22-26, current 6-8th graders and any high school students interested in serving will participate with Radius, a new mission experience serving alongside other youth ministries right here in Opelika!  Not to mention there will be a lake trip or two.

Phew, I thought things were slowing down! For more information on what’s going on, go to Cornerstone Youth. Don’t miss out on the fun as we are leading youth to know and serve Jesus!!!  Merry Christmas!
