Today we’re just reflecting back on the words of John the Baptist as he pointed his followers to Jesus and declared,
“He must become greater; I must become less.”
Such a beautiful statement by John the Baptist! He ultimately found that his place in God’s will was to put his agenda aside to allow Jesus to emerge front and center. His job was to prepare the way and point his own followers to the one the world had been waiting for.
This is our call as well! Our whole life is an opportunity to shine the light of Christ in a dark world. Like Josh said in his message, we are all crackpots! And that’s ok. Nobody’s perfect. The key is to allow the light of Christ to shine through the cracks for the sake of bringing glory to God, and showing others Jesus in us.
So, let our prayer today be that of the Psalmist who said,
“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!”
Psalm 115:1 ESV
